I was on facebook just now when I came across this group about Malayalees which I found pretty interesting and funny. My family didn't really fit into all the categories but some did and I couldn't help but laugh. Ok I am a disgrace to the Malayalee community..can't speak a word but I think understanding Malayalam is good enough. So yeah, this group is 'Any Malayalee can agree...' and theres this long list below. (Just listing a few)
- Your brothers and sisters names rhyme or have the same letter to start with as yours.
- You have to explain to everyone, "That funny name is my father's house name."
Valsalan s/o Arkandial Govindan
Arkandial being my grandfather's house name or smthg.
- You are teased about having two first names or else that your first name should be your last and vice versa.
Valsalan Prashanth in his birthcert cos daddy was so proud of his first son, he had to put the Valsalan infront..
so yes my brother was called Valsalan and it isn't very nice to hear people calling u 'vaalasalaaan' especially in army. oh and my poor brother was obviously one of the last few on the class register list having a 'V' name.
he changed it to Prashanth Valsalan eventually. Smart boy.
- Your mother constantly professes, "I am not gossiping on the phone. It is an important conversation..."
- When your friends find out about the name your parents call you at home, you never hear the end of it from them.
- On long road trips, Mohamad Rafi or devotional songs make the time fly by.
- You have to hide the fact that you have a boyfriend/girlfriend.
- Everybody assumes you are Christian, because you are Malaylee, but you stand up strong and say, "I am Hindu" or "I am Muslim".
- All the Malayalee guys think they are the sh*t, and all the Malayalee girls think they are too good for the sh*t.
- Your North Indian friends mention a Hindi movie, you say that the Tamil or Malayalam version was the original one and that it was better.
- If somebody asks you if you know a Malayalee person, your parents say, "His/Her father/mother was in my college." or else "Yes, We are from the same village."
So yep these were the few that I could relate to since my parents are both local and do not have coconut plantations in their backyard.

Seriously, to think living in a private estate with freaking security who are supposed to be doing their job of ensuring that residents get their peace and comfort..is sooo totally screwed up here.
I'm damn sure I know which nutcrack is blasting his crappy club thrash music with his whole bunch of watchdogs right now and in a about an hour's time I'll hear them barking right under my balcony puffing away their cigarettes like they're oh-so-cool!
How I wish en-bloc got through!

Daddy's birthday card :)
Daddy's 62nd birthday & 30th wedding anniversary went really well :)
I baked daddy a cake!! Thanks to Erli's oven!! I owe you one dear.
Then my brothers and I made a surprise breakfast for our parents! We woke up at 6am okayyy! That's like major for someone who sleeps at 4am and wakes up at 1pm. So yesss! Success :D
Then on Friday we had a little lunch gathering with a few close ones at Vivo's Go India. Food is really yummm!
Went well too.
Ok i'm really really tired now and feeling extreeemely cold!
I don't have much to say.
Gonna send Navin ettan off later. It's sad cos he's migrating to Melbourne and now we're gonna miss one member of our weekly cousin's game night :(
Yep the cake I baked with Erli :) It's a chocolate cake with white icing which we kinda messed up..haha so yeah cocoa and almonds covered the mess up! Heh..

It's gonna be Christmas again.
Though i don't personally celebrate it, there's just something about it that makes everyone smile eh :)

Ok actually I have no purpose blogging now, I'm still thinking of what movie to watch online. My biological-body-clock-whatever is pretty messed up. Although I do get my normal 8 hours of sleep, it just starts in the weee hours at night and ends pretty much at lunch time. So yeah I'm in the mood to watch a really good film..problem is I don't know what I wanna watch.
Thought i'd catch up on Lost or GossipGirl but nahhh I feel like watching a movie!
Wanted to watch Dark Knight again but nooo surfthechannel's link is screwed up.
ARGGHH.
You know its like when I have no time..when I'm studying for exams..going to school I'll be like 'I've got sooo many movies I wanna watch but I've got no time and blah blah'..yeah now that I've got a whole lot of time, I just can't remember what were the movies I wanted to watch.
Just feel like watching one of those feel-good movies..that give me goosebumps or make me cry. Yeah I'm sucker for movies like I am Sam, The Pursuit of Happyness, BLACK HAWK DOWN. Ok, I think I'm gonna watch them again before school starts! :D
Haha I just asked Timothy to recommend a movie and we ended up talking about our lives instead!
Talking about life outside PJ..how poly has turned out for him..how I'm still stuck in craphole PJ..ppl we used to know..what we're going to do with our lives..advice about relationships..movies..music..wierd childhoods thinking that actors on tv were trapped inside the tv set..haha, funny how Timo and I never spoke about these in PJ last year!
It's nice to know that all your old buddies are doing good :)
It's 3.47am and I'm still not sleepy!
I think I need to start forcing myself to sleep early like 2weeks before school starts just to get the hang of it!

Game night with the cousins helped with the mood though :)

YES that's a slice off our first CHOCOMUDCAKE :)
Since my oven at home has been pretty useless since we moved in 14yrs ago..I had my first bakedate at Kalps' house! She's my 1st brother's girlfriend if you were wondering.
Before coming to Kalps' I was having a really 'not-my-day' kinda day.
Spilling drinks all over twice..
Once at the counter and another on myself!
Being a real scatterbrain and forgetting to take my medicine till my dad said I can't take it on an empty stomach so I had to quickly make breakfast and delayed my brother.
Oh and once we came out of our house!! COCKROACHES!! They were freaking fumigating our estate..ughh! So i was hoping around like an idiot till there were no roaches in sight.
and yes the cynic in me was thinking..'oh nooo i'm gonna be a clutz while baking the cake! somethings gonna happen!'
but everything went well :D
Yep..thats the cakebatter!Makes me want to try Ben&Jerry's Cake Batter Ice Cream!!!!
